i've been nerdin on swearin for 4 or 5 years now. my friend devin, who owns more music than all of you combined, put them on my radar. he said i should listen to swearin and ps eliot and some other stuff that escapes me at the moment. he put swearin on my radar during a period i wasn't really listening to anything new. just the same old, same old, blah, blah, blah...needless to say, i was into it. the voices, the loud and the quiet, the fuzz, the words, the hooks, the sound. it’s right up my alley.
i'd recorded a couple of these tunes a while back on the 4 track, because that's what I do, and didn't really have the intention of recording all the songs. i didn't really get motivated until i actually bought the cd some months ago and had all the words in front of me (there really is something about having all the words in front of you on paper). i had recently configured my 4 track setup and thought it would be fun to record a full album on the 4 track, something i haven't done for a good decade. So I gave it a go and whenever i could find and hour or so I'd hunker down and figure out the chords and record a track. the first 11 are all barebones on the tascam. the last tune is digital because I wanted the piano and the piano is upstairs by the kitchen table and moving equipment is so much work. so much. enjoy. or don't. it is what it is. tape hiss and all. i probably should have used a better quality tape. it was an old one from big lots. jfb. 10.20.18.
